Abou : “I’ve played against Raphael for the past ten years – we’ve played so many times – so I think we both knew what to expect. I knew that I had to stay solid with my plan otherwise he could relax a lot, and then he can throw you off your plan.

“I think a good start was crucial, and I’m happy with how I got the win.

On overturning an early 4-0 deficit in the third game, he added: “I think at the beginning of the third it was about trying to stop his momentum. He was attacking everything, going in short, and it was going in well.
