R1, Session 4 Adrian 3/0 Mosaad, Ramit 3/0 Leandro

Adrian Waller (ENG) 3-0 Omar Mosaad (EGY)  11-7, 11-5, 11-3 (29m)

Adrian was very sharp today, and he was helped by an Egyptian that seemed to be not that into the match at the start of each game. The English was accurate, calm and composed. Very good performance.

Adrian : When you get a lead on the scoreboad, you relax in that game straight away. And I think he gave me three or four points at the begining of each game too easily. And that allowed me to relax for the rest of the game.

I always had a couple of points lead, so I could play nice and free, not having to worry about scrapping out any really important of rallies at big times.

I had time off due to a few injuries, I only played three tournaments in the last year. It’s been hard in that sense. But I quite like the “smaller” tournaments, 24 draws, it’s a little bit quieter, you can prepare yourself a little bit better, no so crazy, no mayhem or anything. Those 100K 24 or 36 draws suit me perfectly right now.

Coming off of the worlds as well, there are a few tired bodies out here, having done a trip back from Chicago. I lost in the first round, and came back early so I’ve tried to recover as well as possible for this. And maybe helped today, he got through an extra round or two, that movement from Chicago to Cairo is not easy.

I’m ok because I have started playing only 6 weeks ago but it’s the end of the season for many, and maybe I’m a tad fresher mentally, definitely not fresher physically, coming back from an injury, it’s a different situation, a little bit lacking match fitness.

I’m sort of getting better, whereas a lot of players are really struggling and getting worse due to fatigue. So I try and take that advantage as much as I can in the next week before the season ends.

It all changed round but I think I still play Karim Abdel Gawad, here at the traditional courts. I played him in El Gouna my first match back. And that was just fun for me. He is a good player to play, I actually enjoy playing him although I never beat him.

Some stuff he is does, you just have to smile and I’ll enjoy it again tomorrow.

Ramit Tandon (IND) 3-0 Leandro Romiglio (ARG)  11-4, 11-8, 11-5 (43m)

Ramit : “The first-round of tournaments are always a little tricky. It’s a new venue for me, and a new court. After the travelling from the World Champs, there is a big time difference when you come from Chicago, so it’s quite challenging actually.

“More than the squash, it was hard just to get the body firing, get over the jet lag etc. I haven’t been sleeping great to be honest, so I didn’t really know what to expect from the match. But that’s part of sport.

“Overall I thought that I was solid enough to do what I needed to do to get past Leandro today. I know he is coming back from injury, so he is just finding his feet back at these events.

“So I was happy to get through today.

“More than the winning and losing, if you are performing well, you do feed of that in the upcoming events. That was obviously something that I had in the back of my mind coming into today. Even if I wasn’t physically feeling my best, I have been playing well. I knew that if I could let my squash flow I could find solutions to Leandro today.”
