Tomato Ho (HKG) 3-0 Menna Hamed (EGY) 11-7, 11-6, 11-2 (27m)

Tomato : “Actually, before the match I was a little bit nervous, because recently I have been a little bit out of form. I have had some injuries. So luckily I was able to win 3-0 today.

“I think before the game, I was thinking to just try and stay consistent. I just want to keep doing that.

“Henry, my teammate, kept reminding me to keep trying to pass her to the back of the court, so that I could have some chances to hit into the front of the court.

“Henry was really good for me today. Some previous events so far this season I have had to go to alone, so this time I was very lucky to have him in my corner. This afternoon I will definitely watch his match, and hopefully I can be a good coach to him as well.”

In and Out for Hana and Nour

I think that if there was a competition for who can go in and out of a match the most, it would be a tie!

Both have great shots, nice power in the racquet, good fitness, but what those two adorable girls lack, is CONSISTENCY!!

Far too many errors in the second game for Hana, 4, followed by not a single one in the 3rd. Then up in the 4th comfy, 6/0, but letting the so dangerous Nour back in the game. Some very short rallies, some very good ones. Both have a similar game, and both need to work ON THEIR NEURONES!!!

Kidding but it was a very intense and good match, played in excellent spirit. Could have gone either way.

Hana : My lack of consistency is my biggest problem. I’m working on it, but I’m not there yet. I need to play less tins, and stop going in and out of the match. I seem to switch off and I’m a completely different person!

Once I’m able to be more consistent, I’ll be able to challenge the better players, because it’s often close, but because I’m inconsistent, I always lose close matches. Even I can improve just a little bit, it will make a big difference.

My main coach is Wael El Hindi, but in Egypt, we are coached by the same coach Sergany, so I had to ask Youssef Soliman to help and he was on coaching duty!

Tomorrow, I’m playing Farida instead of Nele. We played twice on PSA. Once in Gouna, and it was very close, and once in Detroit a year ago, and I won.

Honestly, I think that both Nour and I were inconsistent, and tomorrow, it might be a bit the same, in and out of the match. So, the one that can keep it the best together is going to win…
