Fram arrives at the Hyatt Centric
Boy it has been a busy time for me since Gouna!
It just happens that my little Ramy Ashour was getting married on the 10th May in the Ritz Carlton Gardens. I loved the hotel when we stayed there courtesy of PSA/CIB a couple of years ago, and I was thrilled to go back there!

So, instead of going home after Gouna, I stayed in Cairo for a little while – which I didn’t do much since the economic situation and Co messed up with my plans to live there…
Didn’t have much time to enjoy though, as I was pretty poorly for about 6 weeks, was struggling through Optasia and Gouna, with treatments at Kings in London, then Nuttfield Hospital in Wimbledon, to finish a twice a day treatment at the Gouna hospital!
But thanks to a network of amazing friends in Cairo, the “Farag Connection”, we finally solved the problem, and I’m finally feeling better!
Spoke with a lot of people, have a few interviews in the cans, including Mr Mohamed Orfi, Atef El Sherbini, Raneem El Welily and a few more… Yes, I like to listen to people… You learn so much by just listening…
Back in Action at Palm Hills!
To be honest, I was not looking forward to coming to the Hyatt in Giza. I know, a lot of players loved it, but I didn’t. But after a lovely lunch with Raneem El Welily and her husband Tarek Momen, who live only minutes from the Hyatt, I felt in much better mood, especially as we watched the last video of a series we all follow avidly.
And o joy, after the lunch and being dropped there by Melissa Alves who actually DRIVES IN EGYPT, I KID YOU NOT, we are actually in the new Hyatt, called Centric, and not the “Old” Hyatt.
AND I LOVE IT!
It’s a very different hotel from anything I’ve ever seen, and God knows we’ve been in a few hotels in the past 39 years I’ve been on the Tour. Yes, started in 1986 Toulouse me…
It’s a brand new hotel, just next to the old one (three years), only 4 months since the opening. With a very original concept, first of all, an orange theme in the rooms/hall and the uniforms, and the hotel is actually an Art Gallery!
I kid you not, and you even have paintings and sculptures in your room. It’s fun, it’s not pretentious, it’s a blast to be honest!
“Hyatt Centric Cairo West is Egypt first Art Hotel, offering a curated collection of artwork displayed throughout the entire hotel, transforming the space into a contempory art museum. Art pieces can be found in bedrooms, restaurants, outdoor areas, and public spaces”, could I read in the lovely presentation leaflet.
My room is truly fresh, and comfy. Love the bathtub – sue me – vast bathroom, lovely view on the Pyramids – we are in Giza you know – very nice bed and linen, seriously luxurious. Love it, love it, love it.
There was a Press Conference, and also lovely party tonight, we’ll put the photos in the Gallery for you, as soon as we get them…
Tomorrow is a long day with plenty of action on both the Palm Hills’ traditional court – one of my FAVOURITE CLUBS EVAHHHH – and the Palm Hill Golf venue for the GlassCourt, but I’m told it’s stunning!
More to come people, stay tuuuuuuned….
