Farag and Hammamy withdraw
Farag pulls out
Four time World Champion and current World #2 Ali Farag has withdrawn from the upcoming Palm Hills Squash Open Gold event due to injury.
The second seed picked up an injury at the recent PSA World Championships and has subsequently been forced to withdraw from the final Gold event of the season in an attempt to be fit for the GillenMarkets British Open and PSA Squash Tour Finals.
Tarek Momen will now move to the second seed position behind World Champion Mostafa Asal and sit in the same half as 2016 World Champion Karim Gawad. World #10 Youssef Soliman will move to the No.4 seed position and will take Momen’s spot in the draw and will sit in the same half as Asal.
Mohamed Abouelghar will become a top eight seed and receive a bye in round one. He will face the winner of Raphael Kandra and wildcard Elad Daoud before a potential quarter final with top seed Asal. Hungary’s Farkas Balazs will become a top 16 seed and play Yahya Elnawasany whilst ‘Hammer of Thor’ Omar Mosaad will enter the draw as play Adrian Waller.
Hammamy out with injury
World No.3 Hania El Hammamy has withdrawn from the upcoming Palm Hills Squash Open Gold event due to injury.
The second seed, who reached the final of last week’s PSA World Championships, picked up an injury in the championship final – a defeat to Egyptian compatriot Nour El Sherbini – and has subsequently been forced to withdraw from the final Gold event of the season.
As a result of El Hammamy’s withdrawal, France’s Marie Stephan enters the draw and will face Egypt’s Mariam Metwally. Elsewhere, 17-year-old Amina Orfi moves up to second seed, and Farida Mohamed moves up to eighth seed and receives a first round bye.
