R2: Satomi gets her confidence back against Hana R
[3] Satomi Watanabe (JPN) 3-0 Hana Ramadan (EGY) 11-9, 11-3, 11-4 (26m)
Satomi : “I’m really happy with my performance today. First of all, it is always really hard to get back on the match tournament feeling, and it was my first match back in a tournament since the World Champs.
“Having to start a new tournament is always hard, so I’m really happy with how I managed the court today because it was quite bouncy. I was just trying to find my length in the first game, and then Adrian [Waller] helped me from the second game, giving me some good advice and making me calm and making me more attention to detail.
“I think that consistency part, Alison [Waters] has been really helping me beat a player who is tough to beat. So it was a little bit more of a different approach to my previous mindset – I’ve never really thought in her way before.
“I’ve been trying to win those early rounds especially. All you can do is bring your best game out of someone who is better than you, but it is always a little bit harder when you’re seeded.
“You know that the rankings these days, especially in the women’s, are very close, and anyone can actually get through. But to get through these rounds is something I’ve been really trying to work on and I think it has been working well. These are new things which I am trying to put into my game.”
